Committee Objectives

1. Support the passage of federal legislation as the Society’s first advocacy priority in the 111th Congressional session that requires that providers of medical imaging services, including sonographers, have successfully completed a national certification examination from a nationally recognized credentialing organization.
2. Once national certification standards have been established, develop regulatory recommendations for consideration by the Board of Directors.
3. Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory activity at the national and state level which affects the practice of sonography and/or SDMS member’s interests.
4. Actively participate in and support the Coalition for Quality in Ultrasound (CQU).
