SDMS Educational Foundation

General Scholarships

The SDMS Educational Foundation offers scholarships to sonography students attending programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Canadian Medical Association (CMA). The Foundation was established to help attract and assist bright, committed students to the sonography profession while also supporting research endeavors of practicing sonographers. Each year the SDMS Educational Foundation offers scholarships to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need.

General Scholarships are $500.00 with three deadlines per year: March 31, July 31 and November 30. If you would like to apply for a Foundation scholarship, please make sure your application and all supporting documents are received in the Foundation office by the deadline date.

The application is neither lengthy nor difficult. However, you will need to take the time to gather the following items.

These are all you need to apply:

1. the completed application
2. completed Need Analysis Form
3. SAR letter (Canadian students would substitute their prior year’s tax return.)
4. ACT/SAT scores or Official Transcripts

The Foundation has contracted with fastWEB.com to offer our scholarship application through the E-Scholarship Program.

The most time consuming portion of the application process is applying for and receiving the SAR letter. This process is simple but normally requires about six weeks to get your completed SAR letter. Most students have this on hand because they have already applied for financial aid through their schools. If you have not completed this process, please do so now.
