Donald Milburn Service Award

The Donald Milburn Service Award has been established to honor those who have contributed to education in the sonography profession and have provided a valuable service to that community by designing enduring, innovative teaching methods, creative teaching technologies, or other outstanding contributions to sonography education. Individuals and teaching institutions will be considered for this award.

Nominations

Nominator must be a SDMS member in good standing. Nominations may not be made by self-nomination.

Nominee Eligibility - Individual

• Individual nominee must be a SDMS member in good standing, and must have maintained that membership at least 3 years
• Individual nominee must maintain current certification by a national credentialing agency recognized by the SDMS Board of Directors
• Individual nominee must demonstrate a clear role in the support of sonography education

Nominee Eligibility - Institutional

• Department sonographer must be a SDMS member in good standing, and must have maintained that membership at least 3 years
• Department sonographer must maintain current certification by a national credentialing agency recognized by the SDMS Board of Directors
• Department sonographer must demonstrate a clearly defined role of support of sonography education

Judging and Selection

Judging Criteria

• Documentation of design of innovative teaching methods or creative teaching technologies
• Documentation of other outstanding contributions to sonography education
• Documentation of active involvement in sonography in the institutional, local, state, or national arenas

Submissions

Letters of nomination should include the information listed in the Nominee Eligibility and Judging Criteria sections above and should be sent with an Entry Form to the SDMS Educational Foundation at 2745 N Dallas Pkwy, Ste 350, Plano, TX 75093.

All letters of nomination and documentation materials must be received by the SDMS Educational Foundation by June 30. Submissions postmarked after that date will be returned.
