Shoulder Anatomy and the Sonographic Protocol to Assess the Shoulder

This webinar will provide insight into shoulder anatomy and simplify the process of assessing the shoulder by outlining a succinct protocol. 

By the end of the lecture, you will be able to:

  • Understand the different machine settings used for musculoskeletal sonography and what they do to help improve the image
  • Demonstrate the orientation of the sonographic image
  • Understand some basic, but essential, sonographic artifacts
  • Identify different musculoskeletal structures related to the shoulder and how they appear sonographically
  • Discuss the indications for performing a shoulder ultrasound
  • Identify the anatomy interrogated with the shoulder sonographic protocol
  • Identify structures seen anteriorly, superiorly, laterally, and posteriorly
  • Discuss patient positioning in order to see the anatomical structures in the shoulder
