The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is a professional membership organization founded in 1970 to promote, advance, and educate its members and the medical community in the science of diagnostic medical sonography. The SDMS is the largest association of sonographers and sonography students in the world.
Registration is open for the 2018 SDMS Annual Conference, October 4 - 7 in Orlando, Florida. Considered the premier conference for the diagnostic medical sonography community, the SDMS Annual Conference is designed by sonographers for sonographers, students, and physicians who use sonography in their practice.
For those that have attended in the past, I’m sure you will echo my sentiments that the conference is four days immersed in sonography. In four days, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 26 CME credits across multiple educational tracks along with over 13 organized networking opportunities including being able to explore our exhibitor hall that will host over 60+ exhibitors offering the newest technology allowing us, as sonographers, to get our hands on the probes and scan! Other exhibitors include educational resources and professional opportunities.
I attended my first conference apprehensive at what I might experience and if the cost might outweigh the benefits. It was something new, it was expensive, and it took time away from family. Would it be worth it? What I gained in those four days can only be summarized by saying that I have only missed one conference since. I was surrounded by sonographers who were walking the same professional journey as me, facing the same issues, and willing to openly share their experiences. I learned that I wasn’t alone. I found people that shared the same passion and wonder regarding our profession not to mention being able to sit alongside some of the pioneers of our field. Priceless.
On behalf of the SDMS Board, I invite you to join us this year in sunny Orlando as we come together as sonographers.
