Formed in 2009, the SDMS Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization affiliated with the SDMS. The SDMS Foundation fosters professional learning and excellence by working to improve the field of diagnostic medical sonography.

The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is a professional membership organization founded in 1970 to promote, advance, and educate its members and the medical community in the science of diagnostic medical sonography. The SDMS is the largest association of sonographers and sonography students in the world.

Certification Examination Grants | $250
Grants for deserving sonography students and sonographers who wish to further their career by earning additional certifications or specialties.

International Assistance Grants | $1000
Reimbursement for SDMS members who are working or assisting in the international healthcare arena.
Student Scholarships | $2500
Support for deserving sonography students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an educational program in diagnostic medical sonography or cardiovascular technology that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP).

Advanced Degree Scholarships | $2500
Support for deserving sonographers who have a minimum of two (2) years full-time sonography experience and have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an advanced sonography-related degree program (Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral) at an accredited institution.

Hardship Grants | $160
Support for sonographers who are temporarily disabled or unemployed and are experiencing financial hardship that prevents them from renewing their SDMS membership and earning the CME credits required to maintain their credential(s).

Research Grants | $2500-$5000
Support for researchers who propose a unique and pressing research topic to the SDMS Foundation. Applicants will be required to undergo education and mentorship during their research and to submit their findings to the JDMS for publication.
