SDMS Members, Why not you?

Oftentimes when we see a call for nominations, our thoughts go towards the names that everyone knows and associates with sonography. We think of those who have written the textbooks, those who speak at the national conferences, and those who we feel are so much more qualified than ourselves. But today, I challenge you to think, “Why not me?”

The volunteer leadership within our organization represents sonographers from across the spectrum of sonography and is comprised of researchers, educators, and clinicians that work in hospitals, clinics, and overseas. Each of us is as qualified as the next. We hold qualifications ranging from having trained on the job from pathways of the past to those who hold doctorate degrees. Now we are looking for your perspective and experience in the world of sonography. The time commitment varies depending on the position and the dividends are priceless.

As an organization created by sonographers for sonographers, the SDMS is dedicated to advancing our profession. As a member of the SDMS, you already play a vital role and I challenge you to now use your experiences to impact all generations of sonographers by considering being nominated for a leadership position within the SDMS.

If you have any questions about the open volunteer leadership positions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Tammy Stearns

Tammy Stearns, MS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
SDMS and SDMS Foundation President
