The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is a professional membership organization founded in 1970 to promote, advance, and educate its members and the medical community in the science of diagnostic medical sonography. The SDMS is the largest association of sonographers and sonography students in the world.
As the world navigates through the ever changing and often complex challenges brought on by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), on behalf of the SDMS, I wanted to extend our sincere gratitude for being on the front lines of patient care.
As sonographers, we are an important part of the healthcare team. We interact with patients and their family members throughout the day. We listen to their stories and share in their excitement at good news and their sadness when things aren’t going well, but above all, we obtain the images the doctors need to make an accurate diagnosis.
As we continue to care for our patients during this difficult time, the SDMS has compiled a list of trusted resources with information on COVID-19 for you to utilize. I also encourage you to familiarize yourself with and carefully follow your facility’s infection control policies and procedures to help protect your patients, family, and community.
The SDMS is fully operational and committed to serving our members. Stay safe and thank you for being a sonographer. Your selfless dedication to your patients inspires me.
