Dear SDMS Members,
Are you looking for a way to use your knowledge and skills to advance the sonography profession, but don’t know where to start or are concerned about the time commitment?
As the largest organization of sonographers and sonography students in the world, the SDMS is committed to supporting you as a sonographer including providing volunteer opportunities that advance your career and enable you to make a difference in your profession. In addition to longer term volunteer opportunities, there are also micro-volunteer projects that are shorter in nature, such as speaking opportunities or utilizing your expertise to create content for learning activities. There are opportunities for all specialties and all levels of experience.
I encourage you to review the available volunteer opportunities with the SDMS to see what would work best with your schedule and skillset. If you have any questions about a volunteer opportunity, please reach out to the SDMS staff. They have designed processes and procedures to ensure that you have all of the information that you need to succeed as an SDMS volunteer.
For me, volunteering with the SDMS has given me a sense of community within the profession and resulted in numerous opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. The opportunity to give back to my chosen profession is something that I will always cherish. I am confident that you too will find volunteering with the SDMS to be a rewarding experience.
Thank you for your continued support and I hope to see you at the 2022 SDMS Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, September 29-October 1.
Sincerely,
Catherine E. Rienzo, EdD, RT(R)(ARRT), RDMS, FSDMS
