Dear SDMS Members,
I am sure that you, like me, can think of one or more people who helped you become the sonographer that you are today. It may be an educator, a clinical instructor, or a fellow sonographer who took the time to provide guidance, a helping hand, or words of wisdom.
During this season of thanksgiving, I urge you to consider reaching out to say thank you. It may be an email, a LinkedIn message, a phone call, or a spoken acknowledgement when you pass in the hall at work. Let them know that you appreciate the role they have played in your life and thank them for supporting you.
I also challenge you to be like the person you thanked. Be the person who is actively uplifting the next generation of sonographers. Be a mentor, offer to demonstrate how to do a difficult scan, or provide an encouraging word. Find common ground while celebrating your differences. I encourage you to strive to be a source of inspiration and motivation for your fellow sonographers.
Thank you for being a sonographer and thank you for being an SDMS member.
Sincerely,
Catherine E. Rienzo, EdD, RT(R)(ARRT), RDMS, FSDMS
SDMS and SDMS Foundation President
