Cathie Scholl, DHSc, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, is an experienced sonography educator and an SDMS member for over 30 years. She is currently an associate professor in the Cardiovascular Sonography program at Nova Southeastern University-Tampa Bay. Cathie earned an associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography, a bachelor’s degree in vascular technology, and both master’s and doctoral degrees in health science. Her credentials include abdomen, OB/Gyn, breast, and vascular. In addition to teaching full-time, she continues to scan part-time.

Cathie is enthusiastic about volunteering, mentoring, and giving back to the profession. She is a long-time volunteer for both the SDMS and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and has served on many committees for both organizations over the years. Currently, she is an associate editor for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and a member of the editorial board. She has authored original research and a case study, both published in the JDMS, and has contributed to two textbooks. As a subject matter expert for the ARDMS, Cathie is currently the assessment chair for the Sonographic Principles and Instrumentation exam and previously the assessment chair of the Breast specialty exam.

Cathie was recognized as an SDMS Fellow in 2023.
