Kimberly Michael, EdD, MA, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, FSDMS is a tenured professor in the College of Allied Health Professions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) where she holds the prestigious Anderson Distinguished Professorship. A dedicated educator, she has been shaping the field of sonography at UNMC since 1991 and has led the diagnostic medical sonography program as director since 1998. Kim’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in radiation sciences from UNMC, a master’s degree in health studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a doctorate in education from Clarkson College.
As a sonography educator, she has contributed to the field with more than 50 publications on sonography and health professions education. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom. Kim has served as a director for the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) and the SDMS Foundation. Her passion for the profession is reflected in her active involvement with the SDMS Membership Awards & Recognition Committee and as a Continuing Medical Education reviewer. She also serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and holds the role of Vice Chair of the Breast Examination Assessment Committee for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
