SDMS Board Policy: Non-Discrimination
The SDMS is committed to providing opportunities for all within the diagnostic medical sonography profession and among its membership, leaders, volunteers, and staff. The SDMS Board of Directors recognizes the success of the SDMS’ mission depends on contributions from members, leaders, volunteers, and staff who bring a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, ideas, and perspectives.
The SDMS is also committed to ensuring opportunities for all to participate in its programs and activities, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Participation decisions are based on professional qualifications and experience and are made without unlawful discrimination.
In addition, the SDMS encourages its members, the sonography profession, and the broader medical community to support efforts that:
- Reinforce sonographers’ dedication to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to all individuals; and
- Maintain the profession’s focus on the well-being of all patients and the highest standards of medical imaging excellence.

Note: This policy shall apply to all SDMS policies, procedures, programs, and services regardless of whether explicitly referenced. This policy also applies to all SDMS volunteers and staff.
