Healthy Sonographers = Improved Diagnostic Quality
1.5 SDMS CME credit | Category: OT
Sonography exams are highly dependent on the skill of the sonographer, making it essential for them to perform at their best to reduce errors and capture high-quality images that lead to accurate diagnoses. However, sonographers face rising rates of work-related musculoskeletal issues, alongside increasing stress and burnout. This 90-minute virtual workshop will explore the connection between sonographer health and diagnostic quality, focusing on how workplace systems impact both. Through group discussions, participants will brainstorm best practices and strategies to improve both sonographer health and the quality of diagnostic images within health systems.
Objectives:
- Describe the relationships between diagnostic imaging performance, quality, and sonographer health and how these are influenced by work systems and processes.
- Identify a successful health system’s core features and best practices for improving diagnostic quality and sonographer well-being.
- List two-three methods, techniques, or ideas for implementing effective strategies to improve both sonographer health and the quality of diagnostic images within a health system or workplace.
