The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) announces the approval of its amended Bylaws. The SDMS Board of Directors approved the amended SDMS Bylaws on September 27, 2016 and they become effective on January 1, 2017. These Bylaws will help ensure the SDMS continues to meet the needs of our members far into the future.

The SDMS Bylaws were last amended more than 10 years ago. The SDMS Board of Directors completed a comprehensive strategic planning process in April 2015. The resulting Strategic Plan directed the SDMS Bylaws Committee and Board to review and revise the SDMS Bylaws and Committee structure.

The SDMS Bylaws Committee presented proposed Bylaws to the SDMS membership for comment in July 2016, and the SDMS Board of Directors considered all comments and suggestions received at its September Board meeting.

The amendments to the SDMS Bylaws represent a significant amount of volunteer, staff, and external legal counsel time, and the SDMS appreciates the efforts of all involved.
