Dear SDMS Members,
April is National Volunteer Month and on behalf of the SDMS, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to our volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Their service, leadership, and commitment to making a positive impact on the sonography profession enable the SDMS to achieve our mission.
Volunteers are a part of everything that the SDMS does to support sonographers. Volunteers drive the direction of the SDMS, support us as we advocate for sonographers, design the SDMS virtual and in-person events, review and author JDMS articles, mentor sonography students and future leaders, judge SDMS awards and competitions, work on proposed legislation, oversee the SDMS budget and financial reports, slate candidates for elections, and create and review educational content and CME tests. The SDMS would not exist without our volunteers.
As an SDMS member, I ask that you review the open SDMS volunteer opportunities to see how you can use your skills and talents to advance sonography. Volunteer opportunities with the SDMS range from long-term commitments such as the Board of Directors, committees, and task forces to micro-volunteer projects that are shorter in nature such as speaking opportunities or utilizing your expertise to creating content for learning activities. There are opportunities for all specialties and all levels of experience. To learn more about volunteering with the SDMS and to sign up, visit: collaborate.sdms.org
Thank you again to the SDMS volunteers. It has been an honor to work with them and I look forward to our future collaborations on behalf of sonographers and the sonography profession.
