We depend on our volunteers for insight and perspective on matters of interest to sonographers as well as new ideas on how to best meet the needs of sonographers. By sharing your knowledge and expertise, you can help advance the standards of practice, promote education and research, and advocate for the profession as a whole.
Numerous personal and professional development benefits also await you when you volunteer with the SDMS. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and stay up to date on the latest advancements and trends in sonography. You will also strengthen your skills, gain leadership experience, and expand your professional network.
Volunteering with the SDMS provides an invaluable opportunity to shape the future of the profession, broaden your perspective, learn from others, and connect with a community of professionals who share your passion for sonography. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about volunteering with the SDMS. I look forward to working with you in the near future.
Sincerely,

Note: All current volunteers including committee and task force members, and micro-volunteers must complete a new application to be considered for the 2023-2025 term.
There are three types of volunteer opportunities available: committees, task forces, and micro-volunteerism.
Committees: Committees consist of volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to achieve specific objectives. Committee terms last for two years and are based on the needs of the SDMS and sonography profession. Currently, the SDMS is accepting applications for open positions on the Events Management Committee and Membership Awards & Recognition Committee.
Task Forces: Task Forces consist of volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to complete time-sensitive activities or objectives. Task force members are selected based on their specialization and experience and are appointed as needed by the SDMS President. The SDMS is not currently accepting applications for Task Force members.
Micro-volunteerism: Micro-volunteerism involves completing small tasks or projects over a flexible timeframe that can range from hours, days, and months. It does not require a long-term commitment, and volunteers are selected on an as needed basis. The SDMS is currently accepting applications for the following micro-volunteerism opportunities: CME Reviewer, Award and Competition Evaluator, and subject matter experts.
