Description: This session will focus on practical ways to assist novice scientific writers to become published authors with the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS). A presentation from the Editor-in-Chief will cultivate participants’ skill acquisition that may be needed for all manuscript types, accepted for publication. Focusing on both innate and acquired writing skills for attendees is directly related to raising the quality of author submissions. This session will also underscore some of these same skill sets, as they are applied to being a peer-reviewer for the JDMS. The combination of experiences works to improve writing and editing for those volunteering with JDMS. The information on becoming a published author and a responsible peer-reviewer have many commonalities. Participants will be provided with opportunities for further peer mentorship and invited to ask questions.
