SDMS President's Message - October 2025: Special Edition

by Aubrey Rybyinski, SDMS President

Aubrey Rybyinski

Dear SDMS Members,

It is an honor and a privilege to begin my term as President of our society. As I reflect on this opportunity, I am reminded of the many individuals who have taught, inspired, encouraged, and, at times, challenged me throughout my career and volunteer journey. Their influence has been instrumental in shaping my path, and I am deeply grateful for the guidance and support I have received along the way.

My volunteer journey has taken me places I could never have imagined. I began as a committee member wondering what business I even had being there, and I was terrified of giving my first live presentation. Over time, with the encouragement of fellow volunteers and the support of my family, I found the courage to say “yes” to new opportunities. That “yes” led to roles such as chapter author and professional positions for which my volunteer service had prepared me. Anyone who has volunteered can attest to the deep satisfaction that comes from contributing to something much larger than yourself.

I have learned that when you invest in your profession, the return is far greater than you can imagine. The rewards of service—both personal and professional—extend well beyond ourselves and strengthen the community we share.

As I take on this role, my hope is that my service will inspire others to get involved. Volunteerism is the foundation of our continued growth, and every contribution makes a meaningful difference. I encourage each of you to consider ways to share your time and talents, and please know that I welcome the opportunity to support you in that journey.

It also feels especially meaningful to begin this new chapter during Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month. Just as our profession provides clarity, guidance, and answers for patients, our collective efforts as volunteers bring clarity and strength to our society. This month reminds us of the vital role ultrasound plays in healthcare, and it also serves as a call to celebrate, educate, and advocate for the work we do every day.

Together, we will continue to advance our profession and ensure a bright future for our society.

Sincerely,

Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
SDMS and SDMS Foundation President
