SDMS President's Message - April 2026

by Aubrey Rybyinski, SDMS President

Aubrey Rybyinski

Dear SDMS Members,

April is National Volunteer Month, and it provides an important opportunity to recognize the dedicated individuals who give their time, expertise, and passion to help SDMS advance its mission.

Our volunteers are the driving force behind so much of what SDMS accomplishes. They serve as committee and task force members, content reviewers, speakers, and ambassadors. They help shape our educational programs, strengthen our resources, and ensure that the voice of the sonography profession remains strong. Simply put, SDMS succeeds because of the commitment of volunteers who believe in supporting their colleagues and advancing the profession.

Volunteering with SDMS is much more than service. It is leadership in action. Through volunteering, sonographers gain valuable leadership experience, expand their professional networks, and develop skills that strengthen their careers. Whether it is contributing subject matter expertise, helping guide strategic initiatives, or supporting new programs, every volunteer plays a role in shaping the future of our profession while growing professionally themselves.

This spirit of service directly strengthens SDMS as we continue to deliver on our value proposition of advocacy and education for sonographers. Our volunteers help ensure that our educational offerings remain relevant, our advocacy efforts remain informed by real-world experience, and our community remains connected. Their contributions allow SDMS to better support sonographers at every stage of their careers.

To every SDMS volunteer, thank you for all that you do. Your willingness to step forward, share your expertise, and give back to your profession makes a meaningful difference.

If you have ever considered volunteering with SDMS, I encourage you to take that step. Volunteering can take as much or as little time as you are able to offer. Also, you should not feel that you lack the experience to contribute. Every sonographer has valuable knowledge and perspective. Your insight, your experience, and your voice matter. Together, through service and leadership, we continue to build a stronger profession and a stronger future for sonographers.

With gratitude,

Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, FAIUM
