Dear SDMS Members,
October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM), a time to recognize the important role sonographers play in healthcare. Every scan represents a sonographer’s expertise: knowing how to find the right view, recognizing when a finding needs a closer look, adapting the exam to the patient, focusing on the details all while helping the patient feel at ease.
Much of that work happens quietly. Patients and the healthcare team may see the images without fully understanding the judgment, effort, and persistence it took to obtain them. But SDMS understands. We know your skill and dedication make a meaningful difference to patients by providing the information needed to diagnose and design treatment plans.
This month, I hope you will take a moment to recognize a fellow sonographer and be proud of your own contributions. MUAM also gives us all an opportunity to help others understand the sonographers and expertise behind the scans.
Thank you for the care you give, the knowledge you share, and the dedication you bring to this profession every day. Learn more about Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month and join us in celebrating sonographers throughout October.
