Addison, Texas – The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) announces the installation of three new members to its Board of Directors in 2026. Elected by the SDMS membership, all three will also serve on the SDMS Foundation Board of Directors.

“We are pleased to welcome Tanya Nolan, EdD, RT(R)(ARRT), RDMS, FSDMS, Katherine R. Peak, EdD, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, and John Trombly, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R) to the SDMS and SDMS Foundation Boards,” said Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, FAIUM, President of SDMS and the SDMS Foundation. “Their experience in education and clinical practice, along with their commitment to the profession, will help us strengthen our support for sonographers. I look forward to working with them to advance our mission of advocacy and education.”

Tanya Nolan, EdD, RT(R)(ARRT), RDMS, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

Tanya Nolan is Chair of the School of Radiologic Sciences at Weber State University, which serves more than 500 students across imaging and specialty programs. She has served SDMS as Director-at-Large, Events Management Committee Chair, a Nominating Committee member, and a CME Reviewer. An author and educator, she collaborated with Diane Kawamura as an author and co-editor of the fourth and fifth editions of Diagnostic Medical Sonography: Abdomen and Superficial Structures.

Katherine R. Peak, EdD, RT(R), RDMS, RVT
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

Katherine Peak is a clinical associate professor at the University of Southern Indiana with nearly 30 years of experience in sonography education, patient care, and professional service. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership, master’s degree in education, and bachelor’s degree in radiology management at the university. She has served SDMS on the Events Management Committee and Nominating Committee and as a CME Reviewer. Katherine is committed to student mentorship, professional development, and supporting sonographers throughout their careers.

John Trombly, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R)
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

John Trombly has nearly 40 years of sonography experience across clinical, educational, and research settings. He established sonography training programs in the U.S. Air Force and at Red Rocks Community College and now works as a perinatal sonographer at Kaiser Permanente. John has authored papers and book chapters and lectured nationally. He also reviews manuscripts for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
