  • The SDMS Announces Installation of New Board Members

    The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is pleased to announce the installation of six members to its Board of Directors. Elected by the SDMS membership, all will also serve on the SDMS Foundation Board of Directors

    Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation President-Elect

    Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS is senior clinical manager at Navix Diagnostix in Taunton, Massachusetts and works out of the department of Vascular Surgery at Cooper University Hospital. He performs vascular ultrasound examinations, provides pre- and post-operative assessments, serves as a technical expert in supervising, evaluating, instructing, counseling, and training staff, and participates in continuous quality improvement affecting over 100 vascular technologists serving over 100 clients in academic and community hospitals, surgical centers, access centers, and private practice offices. Aubrey has been prolific in his contributions as a national speaker and author of textbook chapters since entering the sonography profession in 2007.

    Stephanie Ellingson, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R)
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation Treasurer

    Stephanie Ellingson, MS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RT(R) is the program director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at the University of Iowa. She has 33 years of experience in sonography as a clinical sonographer and educator and has been a SDMS member for all her career. Stephanie has served on the SDMS Board of Directors three times. Her other volunteer work includes being a site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, serving on the editorial board for the Journal of Diagnostic, Medical Sonography, acting as an item writer for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, as well as volunteering in numerous local positions.

    Amy Wilson, MS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation Secretary

    Amy Wilson, MS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT is Chair and Clinical Professor of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) in Evansville, Indiana. Amy has taught at USI for 19 years. Amy has 30 years of sonography experience, and she holds a Master of Science in Education degree from the USI. Amy also holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology degree and an Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Amy continues her professional practice as a vascular sonographer at Evansville Surgical Associates, Inc. and an obstetric sonography at Women’s Health Care, P.C.

    M. Robert DeJong, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FAIUM, FSDMS
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation Director

    M. Robert (Bob) DeJong, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FAIUM, FSDMS is owner of Bob DeJong, LLC, an ultrasound educational services company in Rosedale, Maryland. He retired as ultrasound technical manager after 28 years at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Bob has authored two sonography textbooks and chapters in various ultrasound textbooks. He enjoys challenging ultrasound studies—the trickier the better.

    Tanya Nolan, EdD, RDMS, RT(R)(ARRT)
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation Director

    Tanya Nolan, EdD, RDMS, RT(R)(ARRT) is the Chair of the School of Radiologic Sciences at Weber State University which serves over 500 students in diverse imaging and specialty programs. As a member of the SDMS, Tanya has served as the Events Management Committee Chair, member of the Nomination Committee, CME reviewer, and micro volunteer. She has also served on the ACERT Board of Directors, the ASRT Editorial Review Board, and the USRT Board of Directors. Tanya actively directs the MSRS research agenda and has written several educational grants, given numerous professional presentations, written peer-reviewed publications, and collaborated with Dr. Diane Kawamura, as an author and co-editor for the 4th and 5th editions of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography: Abdomen and Superficial Structures textbook.

    Richard Palma, BS, ACS, RCCS, RCS, RDCS, FACVP, FSDMS, FASE
    SDMS & SDMS Foundation Director

    Richard (Richie) Palma, BS, ACS, RCCS, RCS, RDCS, FACVP, FSDMS, FASE, is the founder, director, and clinical coordinator of Duke’s Cardiac Ultrasound Certificate Program. He is an assiduous contributor to the sonography profession as educator, author, and program developer; he speaks on sonography and echocardiography nationally and internationally. Richie is honored to succeed Sid Edelman, an iconic Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) physics instructor, at ESP Ultrasound. Richie is also a national speaker for Philips and Lantheus Medical Imaging and a Fellow of the SDMS, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals. Richie, who was among the first to achieve Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification in the United States, has worked in sonography since 1990.
