The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is a professional membership organization founded in 1970 to promote, advance, and educate its members and the medical community in the science of diagnostic medical sonography. The SDMS, with over 28,000 members, is the largest association of sonographers and sonography students in the world.
The Kenneth R. Gottesfeld Award recognizes sonographer authors for the publication of outstanding research or review articles in the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS). Its purpose is to encourage sonographers to share their expertise with their colleagues in the sonography profession by writing and publishing in the JDMS.
