The SDMS Announces Installation of New Board Members

Addison, Texas – The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) is pleased to announce the installation of seven members to its Board of Directors. Elected by the SDMS membership, all will also serve on the SDMS Foundation Board of Directors.

Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, President of the SDMS and SDMS Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Welcoming new board members brings valuable insights that are essential to the ongoing growth and innovation of the SDMS and its Foundation. I am eager to collaborate with these esteemed professionals as we guide the Society’s future strategies and continue to propel the sonography profession forward.”

Aubrey Rybyinski, BS, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
​SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​President

Aubrey Rybyinski is Clinical Manager of Non-Invasive Vascular at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in New Jersey. Since entering the profession in 2007, he has overseen vascular ultrasound operations, staff training, and quality improvement initiatives. Aubrey is also a frequent international speaker and contributor to sonography textbooks and professional publications.

Sharlette Anderson, MHS, RDMS, RVT, RDCS, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​President-Elect

Sharlette Anderson has more than 35 years of clinical and educational experience. She has developed and led sonography programs, served as faculty at the University of Missouri, and mentored students to national competition success. Sharlette is a published author, JDMS Editorial Board member, past SDMS Distinguished Educator Award recipient, and has served in numerous leadership and volunteer roles.

Kimberly Michael, EdD, MA, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Treasurer

Kimberly Michael is a tenured professor and program director at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she holds the Anderson Distinguished Professorship. With more than three decades of academic leadership, she has authored over 50 publications, contributed extensively to SDMS initiatives, and serves on the JDMS Editorial Board. She is also active with ARDMS assessment committees.

M. Robert DeJong, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FAIUM, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Secretary

Bob DeJong has been a sonographer since 1976 and has served SDMS in many leadership roles, including committee work and national lectureships. Recently retired from Johns Hopkins Hospital as technical manager of the ultrasound division, he has authored multiple textbooks, journal articles, and research projects. He is a Fellow of both SDMS and AIUM and recipient of several distinguished awards.

Tara Cielma, BS, RT(S), RDMS, RDCS, RVT, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

Tara Cielma has nearly 20 years of sonography experience with leadership roles as Lead Sonographer, Clinical Educator, and Medical Affairs Specialist. She is actively involved in SDMS committees, serves as a CME reviewer, and is a frequent author and peer reviewer for the JDMS. Tara is dedicated to advancing pediatric imaging and mentoring the next generation of sonographers.

Cathie Scholl, DHSc, RDMS, RVT, FSDMS
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

Cathie Scholl is an associate professor at Nova Southeastern University with more than 30 years of teaching and clinical experience. She holds advanced degrees in health sciences and maintains active scanning practice. A long-time SDMS and ARDMS volunteer, she serves as associate editor for JDMS, has authored research and textbook chapters, and was recognized as an SDMS Fellow in 2023.

Kathryn M. Wampler, MA, RT(R), RDMS, RVT
SDMS & SDMS Foundation ​Director

Kathryn Wampler is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator at the University of Nebraska Medical Center with over 20 years of sonography and teaching experience. She is the Co-Board Liaison to the SDMS Events Management Committee, serves on the JDMS Editorial Board, and has authored peer-reviewed research, including the 2021 Kenneth R. Gottesfeld Award-winning article, and is the 2025 recipient of the SDMS Distinguished Educator Award.
